The Lacy Bookroom

Our Goal:
Every child, Every day with a book at his/her instructional level.

What is the Lacy Bookroom?

The Lacy Book Room has hundreds of copies of 6 packs of books for teachers to use with their children.

The books were chosen to meet the instructional and curricular needs of children in grades K-5.

Why do we need a Bookroom?

Children need to have books every day that they can read at their individual instructional levels.  A common collection of books allows teachers to have fresh supplies of titles to use with children as they move them toward reading independence.

Can teachers use the bookroom with students that are independent readers?

Many books in the Book Room meet the needs of independent readers because the books are more advance in reading level.

Are there only fiction books in the bookroom?

Many books in the Book Room meet the needs of independent readers because the books are more advance in reading level.

Why were the books purchased in quantities of six?

Often children who are reading at he same level will work in a small group of 5 or 6 students.  The teacher will regroup children frequently as they grow in their maturity as readers.
